Epic Burger

My co-worker John raves about this place. He goes at lunch and I believe walks miles and miles to get to this burger place so I had to try it! Epic burger is a local Chicago "chain" (aka 2 locations) started on the idea of being a more green burger (less distance from farm to plate and grass fed beef, etc).
There are not many options for your burger; beef, turkey chicken or portabella. I ordered the turkey burger which from time to time am known to make the quick substitute. The Dirty Gherkin seems to think this is cheating but I say it's still a valid burger. Plus it provides me a little less guilt. After you choose a meat you then decide if you want an egg, bacon or cheese on your burger. Oh you have a choice on type of bun as well, wheat or white (I choose wheat because I'm pretty sure making this option will negate about 200 calories), Diet Coke is another 200...I'm practically negative at this rate. I had cheese but that is requirement in my world, what kind of Wisconsin gal would I be without it? The Dirty Gherkin decided on the double beef burger with cheese and bacon!

The turkey burger was a patty made out of ground turkey which is a nice change of pace for turkey burgers. It was a large burger but I thought it was quite delicious! It is made on the flat top so it typically creates a greaser flatter burger and while my burger was a tad flat it was not greasy at all. The DG I think did not have the same results; while he did manage to take it down, I think the grease of the "fry burger" as he calls it didn't exactly make him feel up to running afterwards. The bun tasted good it did not hold up as well as I would have hoped, leading to needing lots of napkins and creative biting.

The fries weren't bad. They were the type that has their skin on the sides. Fried well, not mushy like some of our other contenders.

I give the Epic Turkey burger an B+. I would go back to it however I would imagine without all the options of toppings and such it would get a bit boring. The Dirty Gherkin gave his double, bacon cheeseburger a B.

***Editors note: The DG highly disagrees with me ordering turkey burgers and protests my grading of them vs. burger. However, I do take a bite of the real deal beefy burger as well.
